Oran Wesley Short was born on 9 May 1887 near Kendalia, Kendall, Texas and died in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas on 11 Feb 1949. He was the son of William Wesley "Wes" Short and Vernie Edge Short.
He married Leila Kate Benton. They had five children:
Katherine Helen Short who married Lloyd Burnet Clark;
Kenneth Oran Short who married Betty McGuffin;
Sarah Ann Short who married Jack Doyle Hearn;
Wesley William Short; and
Leila Sue Short (1939 - living) who married Frankie Joe Parsons.
