William Wesley "Wes" Short was born 2 Jun 1870 in the Curry's Creek Settlement (now Kendalia), Kendall, Texas and died in Texas on 29 Dec 1898. He was the son of Thomas "Tom" Short and Margaret Elenor Overton Short.

He married Vernie Aurelia Edge on 9 Aug 1896. They had one son:

Oran Wesley Short.
