William Wegner was born on 13 Sep 1859 in Blanco, Texas and died in Kendall County, Texas on 29 Jun 1938. He was the son of Martin Wegner and Dora Pfeiffer Wegner.

On 13 Jul 1891 he married Pauline Anne Gerfers. They had five children:

Ottilie Wegner;

Emma Leola Wegner;

Alvina Wegner;

Clara Wegner; and

Benjamin Martin Wegner.
